I finished one corset so far with the first pattern I bought. Now, these aren’t exactly traditional, and I’m thinking I’m going to like using the second set of patterns I bought for a better fitted corset. The second pattern has longer ones, and they’ll just work out better in general. Currently, one of my biggest projects is my prom dress. I want to have it absolutely finished by May 10th, because Tyler’s prom is May 14th. I bought the fabric and two patterns that gave me some inspiration this past weekend, and this dress is going to rock everyone’s world as far as I’m concerned. The top is going to be somewhat simple, with a little bit of an opening that has fabric underneath it up top, and it’s going to be strapless as far as I’m looking right now. The bottom is going to be sort of a bubble skirt, with the tacked up bunching throughout that gives a very elegant feel. It’s going to be a deep bright purple with baby blue accents. I might change my mind on the accent colors, because I think a bright yellow might not contrast too much, but it’ll give a great pop to the prom dress in general if I pick it. The high waistline is going to be accented with a band of the accent color, possibly with a large bow on the back. I’m still working out if I want a band and a bow, or if I want the front to be more simple up top, with a corseted back. I’m not sure, I’ll work out the kinks shortly, since I still have to buy the thread for the project to even begin.
But, I’m definitely going to keep updating, I’ll have pictures posted up of that corset eventually, since I love the silk fabric I did use to make it, and everything is going to work out. I’m just hoping that once this dress is done, it looks amazing for my first year at prom, and then I hope it’s good enough to get me some scholarship. I really want that scholarship, haha.
Also, I’ll probably get some inspiration for shoe ideas this Thursday. I’m going to the Sweetheart dance with Tyler this Saturday, and I’m going to go look at shoes on Wednesday or Thursday to get a quick pair. Then, I can get ideas for altering pairs myself to make some great shoes to go with the prom dress. I’ve been wanting to try taking a pair of plain shoes and making them fabulous. So now I’ll be getting my chance, haha.
In the meantime, I’m going to work with Steve since I’m over here as an assistant today, and then when I get home I want to turn a pair of pants I have into some cute leggings. Let’s hope they turn out good, since I want to wear them to Tyler’s tomorrow with a new mini I bought. Lol.
So last night I went to the only fabric store left in Hermitage, and I got some great stuff planned up now. They had a great sale on patterns, and I bought five packages for patterns. Last night I ended up using the one that involved making a hoodie for my dog. It turned out really cute, even though it’s kind of big on her. I think I’m going to add drawstrings to the bottom band and sleeves. I think I’m going to definitely start working on some corsets because I bought a pattern for them! Woohoo! Plus, the pattern and directions can show me how to turn my old magazine photos into a corset as part of a going green section in the directions. I’d really like to do some corsets like that, but I’m definitely going to go work on one right now. I love it.
Oh, and I possibly have the chance at an amazing scholarship. There’s a contest at Jo Ann Fabrics that involves making your own prom dress, and possibly winning the grand prize, which is a fifty THOUSAND dollar scholarship, and a thousand dollar gift card for Jo Ann Fabrics. Since I was already planning to make my own prom dress, I figured I would sign up for that and see how I can do. I really hope this one goes far. It could make an amazing difference in my life, it could actually help me to pursue my degree in Fashion Design so that my creations would be better, and eventually I’ll be making my creations for everyone to want. That’s going to be amazing.
Wish me luck!
I’ve been looking for inspiration for awhile now, which has been really difficult. I just couldn’t find anything that was piquing my interest, and I went through a major dry spell. I hadn’t touched a needle and thread for weeks. BUT, I started getting a little creative again. So I started to do some research on different patterns and such, and I found this great blog. (http://mymamamadeit.blogspot.com) And she does some great work. So now I’m starting to get inspired by refashion ideas. Today I’ve already refashioned an old tank top by cutting out the original neckline and adding a braided scrap trim, with a small flower out of the same material at the end instead of bringing it the whole way around. Here’s some pictures!

I think it looks pretty cute. I’d like to start making some more creations that are wearable and will be easy to mass produce so I can start selling them to the public. If anyone’s interested in anything that I’ve made or wants me to make anything, go ahead and shoot me an email at lindsey@lindseysin.com.
Thanks to everyone who’s been following my blog!
1. Finishing Vicki’s corset
2. Drawing my newest tattoo design(s)
3. Drawing designs for my alternative athletic clothing line
4. Possibly drawing a line of jewelry designs
5. Possibly sending my designs to companies and seeing where it gets me
I also want to start writing my material for my own music, so that I can have a demo ready in the somewhat near future. I just might have found a connection that can get me into the music industry. That’s going to be completely amazing if this works out like I want it to. I hope it does.
But, if I want this to work out, I need to go get to work on it! Haha. But I’ll keep everyone posted, and I’ll post up sketches for designs I’m working on as I draw them. Everyone will hear from me soon!
I just added my favorite pictures I took of Tyler modeling his Jacket. Plus I added a photo of the tag I stitched into the jacket. It looks boss. It’s been finished for awhile, I just had to resize the pictures before I could put them up on here. But, they’re up and they look great.
I hope everyone likes them!
For the lack of posts lately. The holidays are busy for everyone, and they’re just as busy for me. Haha.
But, I should be posting the pictures for Tyler’s jacket soon, and I’ll be posting some new sketches for designs as I go. I just need to resize a lot of photos before they can be posted in my galleries because of the wordpress photo gallery being strange and messing with my layout if I don’t fix the pictures to fit the page first. You know?
I will be posting the pictures after I resize them. The final result for the jacket was absolutely bitchin’. I love it, Tyler loves it, and I hope you all love it once I post the pictures.
I gave Tyler his jacket today. He absolutely freaking LOVES it. I’m so happy with the results. Tomorrow I’m going to send the pictures to my email, resize them, and post them in my gallery. It looks great, and I’m so glad that he’s so happy with the result.
My next task: Vicki’s corset. I’ve got to bust ass on that one, so I can have it done soon. I’d like to have it finished before the weekend so I can present it to her. If not, then hey, it’s not a huge deal. I’m not a miracle worker, and to put that design on the tank top in one day would be madness, or a miracle. Hell, it’s probably both.
Anyhow, I will be posting pictures of designs that I have created for myself as well. I was originally designing a bubble skirt, but it is definitely turning into a dress, which is going to look adorable. I think I’m going to wear it into the office tomorrow to ask for Steve’s approval on the design. It looks pretty cute. I think it’s going to turn out nice. It’s alternative, trendy, and somewhat reserved. I could wear it with a nice little pink cardigan to a formal event, or I could just wear it as it is for anything else. I’m really confident about this one.
After I finish the tweaking, I’ll take and post pictures of the hoodie I made for myself as well. It looks pretty sweet, but it still needs some maintenance and tweaking before I plan to wear it out anywhere. Because it’s fleece, it’ll be great for this winter to layer under another coat or to have another coat layered under it. Either way, it’s going to be at least decent once it’s done.
First off is Vicki’s corset though.
Tomorrow is my day off of design work I think. I’m going to the office, so I think that means I won’t have much time for fashion design while over there. But at least work will be getting done. I will be productive, no matter where I am or what I’m doing.
But seriously, I need a crash course on how to use a sewing machine. My thumb was sore earlier from all of the sewing I did. All the fingers on my left hand were. Therefore, my grandma needs to give me a refresher course on sewing machine usage. Then I will be up for some larger business. Right now I’ll stick to what I have though. Lol.
I added two new photos to the Fashion Design folder in my Photo Albums, and I finally added one to my Fan Art folder. When I say “fan art”, I mean my drawings that are in tribute to another artist or musician, or anyone that I look up to as a celebrity in general.
The two new Fashion Design photos are for a jacket I made this morning. It looks pretty sweet, if I do say so myself.
Also, Tyler’s jacket is coming along nicely. I believe I’m going to start working on Vicki’s corseted tank top later on today if I’m able to.
I’m going to make a skirt to wear with this jacket I made and the tank top underneath it (no I did not make that, it’s just a plain tank top). I’d like to wear the whole ensemble on Sunday for my friend’s baby’s first birthday party. I think it’d be cool to make an outfit to debut for that special occasion. It might be somewhat thoughtful to my friend Shawna as well. I hope she likes it.
Anyhow, there’s lots to be done here, so I’m going to get back to my neverending work.
